On the dashboard of my Wix website there is a section that shows what is finished and what is left to do to get this website fully operational. As if I have time for all of that nonsense. Anyway, it keeps telling me to write my first blog post, although I've already written 9 of them! Me thinks Wix is a wee bit drunk, but I thought I'd play along. So, I clicked on the write your first blog post button and I am currently writing this in the hopes that this particular post will finally trigger the sensor in the Wix machine that puts check marks beside the Start Blog section, and stop bugging me with all these prompts! We shall see. (*Update, we moved our operations elsewhere in 2021, because Wix was too expensive and buggy.)
In other news, today is day 17 of our new #SocialIsolation #SelfIsolation #Quarantine lifestyle. My anxiety is giving me a bit of a reprieve today, which I'm always thankful for, but I think it's finally getting to my husband. He's kind of feeling down, and who could blame him?! This shit is crazy, scary, and heartbreaking. Thing is, he's usually the one rubbing my back and telling me he loves me and that he is here for me, and now the roles have been switched. I think it's difficult for him to not be the Rock, ya know? I know there is nothing I can say to make him feel better, so in lieu of sharing my Xanax, I just try to slip in a few That's what She said's, How You Doin'?'s, It's going to be Legen... Wait For It... Dary's (when explaining that lunch today is tuna sandwiches), and other borrowed comedic catch phrases to lighten the mood. Sadly, this is typical behavior for me, so I'm not sure it's doing the trick... and that's what she said! Ba-dum-tish!
Last night I finished reading Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, and LOVED it! I came across it while trying to put together a reading list for this year, and I couldn't resist reading a book that had this review...
"Fucked up in the best possible way. Adorably offensive." -Jesus
Being an anxiety sufferer who grew up in the south with a not so typical family, and the smallest smidge of a rebellious streak in my teens, only helped me to appreciate her writing that much more. I can't wait to read her other books! So, as is my method when I finish a book, I post about it on Instagram and Twitter and give a shout out to the author because I want you guys to check it and them out. I did that with this book this morning and Jenny F'n Lawson followed me back! I'm going to take this to mean that she wants to be my new best friend because I'm super witty and fun. Right? OR... she's just super nice like that and likes making people's day. Yeah, probably the latter.
I'm reading a lot of memoirs so far this year, mainly funny ladies because I could use a laugh, I mean come on, TRUMP?! I do have the Becoming -Michelle Obama book on the shelf waiting to be read, but I'm starting something different for my next book. I recently reread Zen and The Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss and decided to read his follow up book, Be Who You Want, Have What You Want: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life. Long title, right? Sheesh! But I've been in search of my Zen in one form or another for almost 43 years, and perhaps I have finally stumbled upon a tool to help me. Again, we shall see.
Though reading has been one of my main activities since being in captivity, err self isolation, I am binge watching shows on #Netflix, #PrimeVideo, and #AppleTVPlus. Last night I finished the first season of The Morning Show on AppleTv+ and I can't wait for season 2! I'm hooked and also a bit sad because when my free subscription to AppleTV+ runs out I'll be forced to pay $5.99 a month to watch one show. ONE SHOW! Hopefully by then there will be other shows that I equally love. Other than that I'm binge watching shows I've already watched like 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, and always Friends, just to name a few. Yes, I know, I am possibly the most exciting person on planet earth and you can't believe I'm not yet famous. It's a mystery.
On that note, I guess I should end this monologue and get back to all my fabulously exciting activities. Here's to hoping that I have fulfilled the Wix bot's need for a blog post and that they will leave me alone in the future. If not, I'll be back tomorrow with more mind blowing writing.
