Hello lovelies! It's time once again for our monthly wine picks. We are still dealing with COVID-19 and are in fact on day 109 of social distancing, so we are still limiting our trips to the LCBO. We are also finding that stock is pretty low, so it hasn't been easy to shop for new wines. That being said, we did manage, once again, to pick up a few bottles and thankfully, they were actually good. I'm honestly wondering if we will run out of low priced options that we actually enjoy, before the end of this year. Only time will tell.
Anyway, without further ado, I bring you June's wine picks!
Our white wine pick for June is Jackson-Triggs Chardonnay. This is a light, crisp chardonnay from Arterra Wines Canada, Inc. The wine has a rating of XD (extra dry) on the sweetness scale and its alcohol percentage is a 12.5. This pairs well with fish, shellfish, poultry, and pork dishes. The cost is actually 95 cents over our $10, but I picked it up while it was on sale. Normal price at the LCBO is $10.95 CAD which is about $8 USD.
Our red wine pick for June is Santa Carolina Merlot. This is a medium-bodied, fruity merlot from Vina Santa CArolina in Chile. The wine has a rating of D (dry) on the sweetness scale and its alcohol percentage is a 13. This pairs well with grilled and/or roasted beef, poultry, lamb, and pork, as well as cheeses and berries. This cost at LCBO is $9.00 CAD which is about $6.58 USD.
*Just a note on our currency conversions... these change daily as it all depends on the strength of both the Canadian and US dollar. Right now the currency conversion rate is definitely in favor of the US dollar, and will most likely be that way for a while, thanks once again to COVID-19.*
So there you have it, our two picks for June. Until next time, make sure you are following me on Instagram and Twitter and remember to be kind, be loving, & be better!
